A brand is more than just a logo, despite what others may think. A brand is the public perception of a business or person and the value that they offer.
There are many aspects that go into creating this image in the minds of the viewer, and while a good logo design helps a lot, it’s only a small step towards making your business more successful with creative branding. To survive in today’s world, a business needs to stand out in a good way. You know how when you first meet someone, you get a feel for their personality and who they are? Well, the same goes for consumers when they first meet your business. The logo is the consumer’s first touchpoint and together with the personality and consistency of your brand, gives the customer the first impression of your business. They say, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but we all do it every day and it’s much better for your business to have a good “cover” along with the good content and value that make your business successful. The logo and creative branding are what create the “cover” for your business. It’s how you attract customers and get them interested in looking deeper so they can discover the value your business can provide to them.
Creative branding can also be used to create a sense of community, team, and pride within your company and its employees. It can increase productivity in the office and can draw in more people who want to work for you/with you. Why would a qualified, trained professional work for you when they can work somewhere else? The reality is, they won’t unless you can lure them with the vision of a successful, thriving business; a business that can’t become a reality without customers. And customers are drawn to recognizable businesses. And a business becomes recognizable through creative branding.
So why do successful companies all over the world invest so much in branding and design? It’s not because they have money to burn. It’s because, in a market that’s quickly becoming overcrowded, they need to be recognizable in order to attract more customers. Companies are constantly competing for views and thus a top position in the industry. Just think about any successful company—I’d bet their logo pops into your mind first. Do you need any more proof than that?
The trick, however, is that while your logo makes a first impression, it’s how your business follows through on the “brand promise” that sets the tone for the way customers will perceive your brand. The follow-through is done through the rest of the creative branding, your company’s personality, and the products and services you offer. The goal, in short, is to achieve a “what you see is what you get”scenario. Your customer sees the logo and creative branding which gives them an idea of what they can expect from your business. After that, it’s your job to give them what they expect: quality products or services.
